Black bear hunting is excellent in Newfoundland. We have the highest density of black bears in North America. The areas that we hunt provide great opportunities at spotting black bears and the terrain provides the ability to stalk in close for a shot opportunity. Typically, when our hunters do take bears, they are trophy classed animals, weighing well above 300lbs, with many encounters and successful bear hunters connecting on the coveted “500 lb’er.”
The Black Bears on the Island of Newfoundland are among the biggest in the world. With little hunting pressure, and abundant food, our bears quickly go from being an add-on tag, to a sought after trophy!
You can choose the right hunting time for you. We offer a limited number of baited spring black bear hunts during the months of May and June. The fall bear hunt starts the second week of September and can be in combination with the moose, woodland caribou, or both.
